Korean Braised Cod - Daegu Jorim

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb codfish fillets either boneless or bone-in
  • 1/2 lb white radish
  • 1 green onion
  • 1 red chili
  • 1 green chili

Sauce

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup Korean Chili powder
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 10 cloves chopped garlic
  • 1 tbsp ginger
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Peel and chop white radish

  2. Chop white onion

  3. Grab a medium sized pot. First add the radish at the bottom, next the onion, and top it off with the fish

  4. Next make the sauce. In a medium mixing bowl, add soy sauce, garlic, ginger, sugar, red pepper flakes. Mix well

  5. Pour the mixture over the pot. Add 1 cup of water

  6. Cover and cook on high for 20 minutes

  7. While cooking, check the pot every 5 minutes and pour the sauce from the bottom of the pot over the top of the fish and flip the fillets

  8. After 20 minutes, add green pepper, red pepper, and green onions

  9. Switch to a simmer and cook for another 15 minutes or until the radish are soft and cooked through

  10. Serve with rice!
