Ingredients

  • 5 cups flour
  • 5 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 packets instant yeast approx 2 tbsp
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • flour as needed
  • 1/2 stick butter room temperature (softened)
  • 3 cups coconut milk

Instructions

  1. Get a big bowl and put in the flour, brown sugar and yeast. Mix together lightly with your hands

  2. Using warm water (not hot!), slowly pour the water into the mixture while mixing it with a spoon. Add just enough water so that the flour can form a dough

  3. Mix the dough until everything is folded but don’t overwork the dough.

  4. Now start kneading the dough with your hands , adding flour as needed, to keep the dough from sticking to your hands. The kneading process it to fold the dough and then press it and then sprinkle flour on top. It’s a pretty quick process, just about 1-2 minutes.

  5. Grab a tablespoon of butter and knead it into the dough for about 20-30 seconds

  6. Grab a deep pot and grease the bottom with generous amounts of butter.

  7. Grab a generous dab of butter and wipe it in your hands. Grab a piece of the dough, shape it into a circular bun and place it inside the pot until the pot is full.

  8. Grab your coconut milk and pour it over the top of the buns so that they are almost completely covered

  9. Cover the pot with a lid. Cook on a low flame, over the stove, for 30 minutes
